Dragon Capsule Makes History Docking With Space Station

History was made above us in space early this morning, May 25.

The first non-governmental space vehicle, the SpaceX Dragon capsule, completed berthing with the International Space Station just after 10 a.m. (MDT).

Dragon's hatch is scheduled to be opened early Saturday morning, May 26. The station's six astronauts will unload about 1,000 pounds of cargo, including food, clothes, batteries and a laptop, plus 15 student-designed experiments.

Space Shuttle Discovery Flies Victory Laps Over Washington D.C.

Around Cheyenne, we see and hear the C-130's flying overhead, in Washington D.C. yesterday crowds were thrilled to see the Space Shuttle Discovery atop a modified 747 flying around the nation's Capitol.

For 45-minutes yesterday, April 17, the pair flew past iconic sights like the Washington Monument, the White House and the Smithsonian's original Air and Space Museum.

Space Shuttle Discovery was headed to it's new home at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia.

Space Shuttle Atlantis Lands to End the 30 Year NASA Program

Space shuttle Atlantis landed at Cape Canaveral in the pre-dawn hours on Thursday, ending the 30-year NASA program.

The shuttle fleet has kept U.S. astronauts flying to a from orbit longer than any other rocketship.

During their 13-day mission Atlantis delivered a year's worth of supplies to the International Space Station. The payload included 2,677 pounds of food and 9,400 pounds of spare parts. On the return trip, Atlantis carried nearly 5,700 pounds of unneeded material from the station back to Earth. (That's what I call taking out the trash)

Grateful Memories of Apollo 11 Moon Landing on July 20, 1969

Where were you on the evening of July 20, 1969?

If you were around that night, chances are you were watching Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon.

Last night I was eating a roast beef sandwich and to me, Arby's and Apollo 11 always go together. The Summer of 1969 we were taking a family vacation to Mesa Verde in southwestern Colorado. We were driving back home through Denver and stopped for dinner. Inside the restaurant they had a small TV everyone was watching, showing coverage of the historic moon landing.
