You can get an idea of what it's like climbing the world's highest peak by attending Mark Jenkins' talk at Laramie County Community College on Tuesday, January 29, at 7 p.m.
Jenkins, a Wyoming native, is an avid climber and writer-in-residence at the University of Wyoming. He climbed Mount Everest last spring as part of a North Face expedition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first American ascent of the mountain.

University of Wyoming head football coach Dave Christensen announced Thursday the addition of five new mid-year scholarship players to the program. The five new Cowboys include two student-athletes who graduated early from high school to enroll at UW for the 2013 spring semester and three junior-college transfers. They bring Wyoming’s total of mid-year transfers to nine. Four mid-year transfers were early announced on December 19, 2012. The five new players include two defensive lineman, a linebacker, a tight end and a running back.
