Colorado Wildfires Force Evacuations and Send Smoke Our Way

Firefighters in Colorado are currently working on at least three wildfires, one burning in Rocky Mountain National Park.

The Big Meadows fire inside Rocky Mountain National Park was caused by lightning on Monday, June 10, and has grown to 75 to 100 acres, being fanned by high winds, low humidity and lots of beetle-killed trees for fuel. It has closed several trails in the park.

Wondering where the smokey haze around Cheyenne is coming from?

There are plenty of sources as wildfires are burning in several locations across the western United States including in Wyoming.

According to the Wyoming State Forestry Division, there's a 6, 500 acre blaze burning southeast of Casper. The Little Boxelder Fire about 10 miles south of Glenrock has burned grass and timber since it was first reported last Friday. It is about 80 percent contained.

I know how easy it is to be a little...let's say "casual" about things like making sure your campfire is all the way out or leaving it unattended for a while so you can go fishing.
