One of the coolest classic car collections in the Cowboy State just got even bigger. The Frontier Auto Museum in Gillette recently expanded. Among the new additions are three historic Model T's, including a 1918 Chevrolet delivery van, which is still running over a century later.

The musuem is the branchild of the Wandler family. Like many others, Leon Wandler followed the oil boom to Gillette when he opened the L+H Industrial in 1964. As the company grew over the years, so did Leon's car collection.

In 2015, Jeff Wandler was looking for a place to store the family's collection when he purchased an old car dealership. Constructed in 1949, the building was the longtime home of Stockman Ford.

In January of 2016, the Wandler family opened the museum with a antique shop next door. Along with classic cars, the multi-million dollar display also features dozens of vintage gas pumps, signs and western memorabilia.

Part of their recent expansion also includes a miniature "Main Street", complete with a general store and barber shop. The Frontier Auto Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  On February 5th, they'll be hosting a party to celebrate their reopening. They're also planning a car show in May.
