Laramie County Assessor Kenneth Guille says tax assessments for Laramie County property owners were mailed out on Wednesday, March 18.

He says property owners should check the amount in the category "Total Valuation Used To Calculate Tax" to see if it's about what their property would have been worth on January 1, 2015.

Guille says if a property owner doesn't agree with the assessment they can contact his office for a review. The deadline this year for requesting a review is April 17th,

He says in that case someone from the office will re-visit the property and check all the available information that went into the assessment. Property owners can also ask to have specific factors included in the review that they think might affect the assessment.

The Assessor's Office will then send the property owner a decision..

Guille says if the property owner still doesn't agree with the valuation they can then appeal to the county Board of Equalization for a further review.

Guille also says it's important to understand the assessments aren't a tax bill. Those notices will be sent out in September from the Laramie County Treasurer's Office.
