Teton County to Vote on Alcohol Testing Wands At School Events
Teton County school trustees are set to make a final decision on whether to adopt a policy that would allow screening of students at extra-curricular events for alcohol use.
The board is set to vote Wednesday on allowing the use of alcohol testing wands at such events.
Advocates of the policy say it will help counter teen drinking. Opponents say it is an invasion of privacy.
The Associated Press reports that, as of Monday, the school board had received four public comments on the policy, three against and one in support.
Comments by the American Civil Liberties Union saying the policy was unconstitutional derailed the policy for the better part of the year, while Teton County School District 1 rewrote it.
