The local real estate market is booming, which is good news for Cheyenne home owners. However, if you're looking to buy a single family home in the area, the shortage of available inventory is driving prices up.

According to the real estate website Zillow, here's the five most expensive single family homes currently for sale in and around the Capital City.

This 4,200 square foot home, built in 2013, features 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, plus an outbuilding and breezeway on a 20 acre lot in the country with mature trees and no covenants.

Sounds awful expensive for a 1,600 square foot, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home that was built in 1916. However, it sits on a 440 acre ranch with a large horse barn and cattle holding facility. The property also features a private pond and is located near I-25 at the end of a secluded road.

This 5,381 square foot home is the biggest on our list. It has 6 bedrooms, 5 full bathrooms, along with a newly remodeled kitchen, office, two fireplaces and a walk out basement.

This 4,624 square foot home sits on a 1.64 acre lot in Mustang Ridge. It features 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a walkout basement, covered back patio, large deck and a three car garage.

This historic Avenues home was built in 1942 and features 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in 4,676 square feet. The home also includes a private balcony in the master suite, 2 large fireplaces, a heated garage and a sauna.

If you think those houses are expensive, check out Zillow's list of the Most Expensive Homes in Wyoming. Turns out, the mortgage payment on a $24 million property is only $91,427 a month. Is that all?
