For nearly 80 years, The Wyoming Supreme Court building in Cheyenne has been one of Cheyenne's most recognizable landmarks. According to local lore, it's also one of the most haunted places in the state.

Built in 1937 just south of the Wyoming State Capitol, the courthouse and law library is reportedly haunted by the ghost of former Supreme Court Justice Fred Blume.

Blume was a German immigrant who came to Wyoming in 1905. After establshing a succesful law practice in Sheridan, he was appointed to Wyoming Supreme Court in 1922.

Blume remained on the court for over 40 years before retiring in 1963. Blume kept an office in the Supreme Court building until he eventually passed away in 1971 at the age of 96.

Following his death, employees at the Supreme Court building began noticing strange noises and odors coming from Blume's old office.

Books mysteriously fell from the shelves, footsteps were heard pacing through the halls and the light to Blume's office would be turned on at night.

Blume was also known for smoking his cigar and, according to several accounts, you can still smell the smoke coming from his office at night.
