A reader's theater benefit performance of 'John Brown's Body' starring the Pete Simpson family comes to downtown Cheyenne Thursday night beginning at 7:30.The Simpson family; Pete, Sr., Lynne, Milward, Maggie and Pete, Jr., will be joined by the Cheyenne Chamber Singers under the direction of Sean Ambrose.
The Spontaneous Theater Production is based on the poem, 'John Brown's Body,' by Stephen Vincent Benet.
Tickets for the benefit performance are $20 for adults and $10 for students, if purchased in advance, they are $5 more if bought at the door.
John Brown was an American abolitionist who led an unsuccessful raid on the armory at Harper's Ferry in 1859 which led to his capture and eventual hanging. Events that led to the American Civil War the next year.
