Rumors of a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion have been flying around for years.  Sadly, Robert Plant has steadfastly refused to participate in a full fledged reunion tour since they last shared the stage for in 2007.

Jimmy Page, on the other hand, seems eager to hit the road for one final tour with Jason Bonham filling in for his late father on drums.  Recently, Page’s growing frustration with Plant has lead some to speculate about the possibility of launching a Zeppelin tribute tour with another vocalist.

Today, legendary Heart singer Ann Wilson fueled those rumors by publicly volunteering her services. Jimmy Page has hinted that he plans to put together a band and tour in 2015.  Here’s my top 5 candidates for a potential Page and/or Zeppelin Tribute tour without Robert Plant:

1.  Chris Cornell – the Soundgarden frontman definitely has the pipes to hit Plant’s notes.  He also has a friendship with Jimmy Page.  In fact, Cornell interviewed Page at a public event to promote his recent book release this fall.

2.  Ann Wilson – the legendary voice of Heart has publicly stated she would love to be a part of any tour with Jimmy Page.  She definitely knows the material.  Heart was part of a tribute to Led Zeppelin several years ago at the Kennedy Center Awards Ceremony.  Ann has also toured with Jason Bonham recently, during which she covered several of Zeppelin’s biggest hits.

3.  Steven Tyler – back in 2010, the Aerosmith icon publicly admitted he had auditioned for a proposed Zeppelin tribute tour.  He even claimed that Jimmy Page offered him the job, but he turned it down out of respect for Plant.  He’s had his own struggles with Aerosmith in the past few years.  Could his frustration with Joe Perry help change his mind about a tour with Jimmy Page?

4. Sammy Hagar – earlier this year, the Red Rocker briefly toured with Jason Bonham and billed those concerts as a “Journey Through the History of Rock”.  Their set included several Zeppelin covers.  Hagar would certainly add much needed credibility to a Zeppelin tribute with Plant and he knows a thing or two about playing with legendary guitarists.

5.  Miles Kennedy – back in 2008, the Alter Bridge singer actively rehearsed with Jimmy Page and former Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.  Ultimately plans for a tour fizzled.  Kennedy is no stranger to replacing legendary singers.  He sat in for the absent Axl Rose when Guns n Roses was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 and also moonlights as the singer for Slash’s band.
