Cheyenne has its fare share of good restaurants, but if you're willing to drive a few extra miles, some of the best spots in the area are just outside of town. Here's our list of the 5 best restaurants on the outskirts of the Capital City.

Of course, Wyoming is famous for its Cowboy culture and you'll be hard pressed to find a better steakhouse than the first four places on our list. The each have rustic decor, old west charm, a relaxed atmosphere and outstanding steaks, burgers and prime rib.

The Little Bear Inn - Just north of Cheyenne, off the I-25 service road, the Little Bear has been a local favorite for nearly a century. Over the years, it's been a saloon, gambling parlor and has operated at its current location since the late 1950's. Not only is this place steeped in tradition, the food is excellent. In addition to hand cut steaks and amazing burgers, you won't fine fresher seafood anywhere in our neck of the woods.

The Bunkhouse Bar and Grill - A few miles west of Cheyenne on Happy Jack Road, you'll find another authentic western watering hole. Trip Advisor ranks it third out of 152 restaurants in the area, and for good reason. As one reviewer said, it's genuine "cowboy food' with western charm and friendly service. They also have live bands on weekend nights.

T-Joe's Steakhouse and Saloon - There's yet another steakhouse with quintessential old west charm just east of town off of I-80. Named after a champion bucking bronc, T-Joe's is a throwback to Wyoming's rodeo and western culture. The saloon is always lively and the restaurant serves up the best prime rib in the area. Plus, if you're driving an RV, you can stay at their RV park.

Senator's Steakhouse and Brass Buffalo Saloon at The Terry Bison Ranch - This popular resort, just south of Cheyenne near the Colorado state line, offers everything from a replica of an old west town, horseback riding and even a guided train tour of their legendary Bison herd. The steakhouse and saloon also serves a variety of bison, ranging from sirloin and ribs to bison brats and meatloaf. Like T-Joe's, there's also an RV park.

Antelope Truck Stop Pronghorn - The last place you would expect to find authentic Indian cuisine would be at an I-80 truck stop way out in Burns, Wyoming. However, if you're in the mood for a unique cultural dining experience, the Punjabi and Sikh dishes here are definitely worth the trip.
