Irish guitarist Gary Moore was discovered dead in a hotel room early Sunday while vacationing in Spain, according to Thin Lizzy's manager Adam Parsons. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Moore was only 16 when he moved from Belfast to Dublin in 1969 to join Phil Lynott in the irish band Skid Row. Lynott later asked Moore to replace the departing Eric Bell in Thin Lizzy.

In 1987, Moore sold the name Skid Row to the New Jersey metal band for $35,000.

The guitarist released 20 studio albums and performed with a wide range of major artists including a cameo appearance on The Traveling Wilbury's Vol. 3 album playing lead on "She's My Baby."
