Wyoming is full of history and have had some pretty unique people who have walked across and lived in the Cowboy State. One of those is John 'Liver-Eating' Johnson.

In was on this day in 1974, that the remains of the mountain man was relocated to the Old Trail Town in Cody, Wyoming.

John 'Liver-Eating' Johnson was a jack of all trades. He was a sailor, teamster, farmer, hunter, scout, deputy, trader and a Union Private. He was a big man and built like a brick house, according to some accounts.

Legend has it that we would gut the liver out of every man he killed and would eat it, which is where he received his nick name of 'liver-eater.' He was also known for killing Indians, was a deputy sheriff in Coulson, Montana and was a Marshall in Red Lodge, Montana.

He lived his life out in a veterans home in Santa Monica, California and was buried there in 1900. However, in 1974, with the request of students, teachers and others, his body was relocated to his final resting place in Cody, Wyoming.
