September  2013 still has more than 10 days left, but it's already the wettest September in Cheyenne history, according to a local meteorologist.

Don Day of Dayweather Inc. says the area has received over 6 inches of rain, exceeding the total for any September since such records began being kept in this area. But Day says that it doesn't yet have the distinction  being the wettest month in city history.

That record is held by August of 1985, when the city received 6.73 inches of rain. Most of that total was accumulated during a flood which struck the city on August 1, 1985.
