Normally, there's only a few occasions where it's appropriate for men to share tears in public:  watching the family dog get put down, holding your child in your arms for the first time, mourning the loss of a loved one, foolishly taking the ghost pepper hot wings challenge or getting kicked in the nads.

For the past two days, I've had the privilege of co-hosting the annual St. Jude's Children's Hospital Radiothon in Casper with my friends and colleagues Jon Michaels and Steve Cooper.  The stories of the children and their families have been so touching that we've been taking turns crying like a group of girlfriends watching the movie "Beaches".

Yesterday, I made it through the first hour without crying.  For a moment, I felt like a cold, heartless psychopath.  Until Jon decided he was going to deliberately make my cry.  And it worked.  That damn Sarah McLachlan song gets me every time.

We'll be back at it today, and I'm sure the tears will continue.  And somehow I get the feeling there may be a group hug between the three of us when it's all over.  Of course, we're doing this for a great cause.  St. Jude's Children's Hospital is one of the leading in the world for pediatric cancer research.  If you'd like to pitch in and help them save lives, please visit them at www.stjude.org or pledge to be a Partner in Hope by calling 1-800-345-HOPE (4673).
