All three Cheyenne high school football teams lost in Class 4A action on Friday night.

Cheyenne Central won the battle but lost the war on Friday night, out gaining Laramie by 399 yards to 317 but losing by a score of 23-13, with sacks, key stops, and big plays winning the day for the Plainsmen. Laramie (now 2-3) scored on a 99-yard touchdown pass, got five sacks and stopped key Central (1-4) drives when it counted to notch the win.

Meanwhile, expectations of a low-scoring defensive struggle between Cheyenne East and Casper Natrona proved to be true--at least on the scoreboard--in a 14-7 Natrona victory in Casper.

The Thunderbird offense actually racked up 361 yards to 275 for Natrona, but East was held to a single touchdown in suffering its first loss of the season. The outcome left both schools with identical 4-1 records heading into week six.

And the Cheyenne South Bison failed to break into the win column on Friday, falling to #5 ranked Rock Springs 39-13. For three quarters the game was much closer than the final score, with the Bison (0-5) actually holding a 13-12 lead near the end of the third period.

But Rock Springs (3-2) scored 27 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to notch the win.
