A traffic dispute on Thursday led to a local man being cited for reckless endangering, according to Captain Linda Gesell with the Laramie County Sheriff's Department.

Gesell says the incident happened shortly afternoon when David Beedle says he accidentally pulled in front of Joseph Shaffer at 19th Street and Missile Drive.

Gesell says the two men exchanged insults and rude gestures until they came to Rucker Road, at which both vehicles turned left and then right on Rolling Hills Road.

Beedle then stopped his pickup and got out. Shaffer pulled up behind him and threatened to attack Beedle. Gesell says Beedle then pulled out a 9mm handgun and fired a shot into the air.

Shaffer then went back to Rucker Road to wait for law enforcement to show up. Gesell says Beedle then went home and tried to hide his handgun, but deputies met him there and gave him the citation.

Reckless endangerment is a misdemeanor under Wyoming law, carrying a potential penalty of up to a year in jail.
