Incumbent Republican Troy Thompson has filed to run for another term on the Laramie County Commission.

Thompson, who is a veterinarian, is currently Chairman of the Commission and is a member of the Executive Board of the Wyoming County Commissioners Association.

He was born in Greeley, Colorado, and has been a Laramie County resident since 1981.

Thompson is the second incumbent commissioner to file to run for re-election, joining Republican Linda Heath. Incumbent Democrat Ron Kailey has announced he won't be running for re-election this year.

Former Commissioner M. Lee Hasenauer will be making his fourth consecutive run for the commission in 2018 (he served on the board from 2012-2014).

Challengers Gunnar Malm and Tom Scranton, both Republicans have also formally filed to run for the board.

No Democrats have filed so far to run for commissioner in 2018.
