Wyoming Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Townsend says a 1998 Chevy pickup driven by 31 year old Brandi Taylor of Casper was eastbound when, for unknown reasons, it suddenly crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic. Townsend says 62 year old Gary Johnson of Evansville was westbound in a 1999 Freightliner truck tractor hauling ethanol and tried to avoid the Taylor vehicle by steering to the right.

Townsend says the two vehicles collided head on, which caused the Taylor vehicle to be pushed backwards across the center line before coming to rest blocking the eastbound lane. Johnson's truck tractor went off the roadway on the right hand side, were it overturned 1/2 time coming to rest on the roof. The truck tractor then became engulfed in flames and was totally consumed.Townsend says the ethanol in the trailer did not catch fire.

Townsend says both Taylor and Johnson were declared dead at the scene. The crash, which remains under investigation, happened shortly before 8pm on Saturday.
