The City of Laramie is hosting a public meeting to discuss the Undine Park Gazebo Project on Monday, April 6, 2015. The meeting will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Laramie Depot Museum located at First and Kearney.

Representatives from Laramie Parks and Recreation along with those from the consulting firm Russell + Mills Studios will be at the meeting to hear public input, ideas, and to answer questions.

The city plans to build a gazebo in Undine Park during fiscal year 2017. This project is inspired by a gazebo that once stood in Undine Park and was removed likely in the 1930s or 1940s.

The meeting provides an opportunity for the community to tell the city what they want to see when the gazebo is built.

“This is the first opportunity for the neighborhood to really come out and tell us what you want,” says Parks and Recreation Director Paul Harrison. “All options will be on the table for discussion, and then when we come back for a second meeting we will really be looking at—did we capture those ideas, and is this visually what you want to see?”

Harrison says community input will help in determining the gazebo’s size, appearance, location within the park and how closely it resembles the old gazebo.

In addition, he adds that the city is still attempting to learn more about the history of the previous structure at the park. Anyone with photographs of the old gazebo or information on its history are encouraged to attend the meeting to share.

Once built, the new gazebo will be utilized for a variety of activities including presentations, visual arts performances, concerts, weddings, receptions, reunions, picnics, and more.
