A group of local businesses announced Thursday that they will match donations to the United Way of Laramie County up to a total of $121,000.

United Way of Laramie County Executive Director Connie Sloan-Cathcart says the offer is good up until the end of the current fundraising drive on December 31, 2013. Sloan-Cathcart says the United Way contributes funding to about 25 local charities, ranging from the Comea Shelter to Meals on Wheels to Prevent Child Abuse Wyoming.

She says the fundraising goal for this year is "as close to $1.2 million as we can get". She says so far the campaign has raised $927,000. Sloan-Cathcart says donations to the drive can be made online, or by contacting the United Way of Laramie County.
