Previously, I posted about hammock camping and how you can use a tarp to create a shelter for your hanging campsite. But did you know that a tarp can be used as a few different types of shelter.
I carry a couple of tarps in my truck for various situations, like wrapping items and keeping them dry for transport, but mostly the tarps I carry are for camping.
Not only can you can use a tarp as a make-shift tent, but you can also use it to make a lean-to shelter to get you out of the wind. And in the heat and wide open spaces of Wyoming, it can also be used to help you escape the heat when you’re caught out in the open without any shade in sight.
Tomorrow I’ll help you string your tarp and show you a couple of handy knots to secure it with. But, check out the graphic below and the next time you head out into the Wyoming outdoors, you might want to make sure you have a tarp handy.
