A 32 year old Utah man was killed when the vehicle he was riding in hit a truck that was parked at the scene of a previous crash.

Wyoming HIghway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Townsend says a Kenworth truck  driven by 35 year old Trent Mcdougal of Riverton, Utah was stopped in the right lane of westbound Interstate 80 about 30 miles east of Evanston at 9:22am on Tuesday. Townsend says a Ford pickup driven by 53 year old Terry Shank of Payson, Utah was coming up from behind in the westbound lane and apparently did not see the parked vehicles until the last moment.

Shank swerved to the right to avoid the Mcdougal vehicle. but the right side of the pickup still struck the Kenworth. Shank's vehicle came to rest in the median and a passenger, Jeffery Ryan of Eagle Mountain, Utah, was declared dead at the scene.

Townsend says once the investigation is complete the findings will be turned over to the Uinta County Attorney's Office, which will decide whether criminal charges will be filed.
