Vine or Instagram: Which Do You Prefer For Video-Sharing/Social Networking? [POLL]

Vine/Instagram

To survive in the this new digital age, you must constantly evolve or be left behind. Since the late 1990′s until now, there haven been several new additions to the social media family. How many of you remember AOL? How about MySpace? Facebook and Twitter are definitely currently leading the pack with Facebook actually adopting one of Twitter’s features, hashtagging (#). But what about video sharing? YouTube is top of the food chain there, but Vine and Instagram are jumping in as far as short videos go.

Vine allows you to share short (6 seconds to be exact) video clips created from mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads and Android devices. The app is a free download. Vine’s parent company is Twitter.

Instagram began as a photosharing app for social media sites and has expanded to now create and share 15 second videos from mobile devices such as iPhones, iPads and Android devices. The Instagram app is also a free download. Instagram’s parent company is Facebook.

Personally, I prefer Instagram myself, partially because I’ve had it longer and I’m more comfortable with navigating through it (a buddy just talked me into getting a Vine account today actually). But considering I’m sure Facebook more than doubled the length of time you can record to battle Vines popularity, I gotta say… it’s working! I like Instagram better. Just not a whole lot you can say in 6 seconds. Most of the Vines I’ve seen have been solely for comedic purposes. Whatever the case, I’m keeping both, for now, if nothing more then fear of being left in the proverbial on-line dust. But only time will tell who will prevail.
