Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen is looking for volunteers to serve the Downtown Development Authority Board and the Mayor's Council For Disabilities.

The DDA board is made up of volunteers who oversee the city's Downtown Development Authority, which works to improve and revitalize downtown Cheyenne. The board develops a long-term vision and the DDA has four committees (Urban Design, Downtown Beautification, Marketing  and Urban Development) which work to make the vision a reality.

Kaysen says the board is a way for people who care about downtown Cheyenne--and the city as a whole--to really make a difference. While not every DDA board member must own or rent property in the downtown area, the group's by-laws require that most board members must meet that criteria.

The mayor is also looking for volunteers for the Mayor's Council for People with Disabilities. That body advises the mayor on issues for people with disabilities in a wide range or areas, including such things as employment, recreation, transportation, building accessibility and many others. By laws require that a majority of the board members for the council are either people with a disability, or the parent or guardian of someone with a disability, or a disability advocate.

Applications for both boards are available on the city website, or through Virginia Riley at the mayor's office. They can also be obtained at the city municipal building at 2101 O'Neill Avenue. The deadline for applying for both boards is July 15th at 5 p.m.
