CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Winds gusting up to 60 mph are keeping some highways in southern Wyoming closed.

The snow that fell Tuesday night and early Wednesday has ended, but strong winds are blowing the snow onto road surfaces and reducing visibility.

Sections of I-80 between Cheyenne and Evanston are closed either because of the conditions or backed up traffic. Light trailer traffic is prohibited in some areas.

The weather also closed sections of U.S. 30 and state highways 77, 130, 487 and 34 north of I-80.

A fast moving storm system brought snow and strong winds to the area overnight.

The National Weather Service says the snow had mostly ended by mid-morning Wednesday, but strong winds continued to persist, causing blowing and drifting snow and making travel hazardous.
