The westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed Thursday morning across much of southern Wyoming following a crash yesterday which resulted in a spill of hazardous material.

I-80 westbound from Rawlins to Laramie was closed due to that hazardous material, while the roadway was also closed between Laramie and Cheyenne due to a request from local authorities.

Between Laramie and Cheyenne, the estimated opening time was between six and eight hours as of 5:22 a.m.

Between Rawlins and Laramie, the estimated opening time was estimated to be in four to six hours as of 7:05 a.m.

The eastbound lanes remained open as of 7:30 a.m., though significant weather impacts were present between Exit 290 at Quealy Dome and Creston Junction west of Rawlins. The summit between Laramie and Cheyenne had strong winds and blowing snow in some areas, according to WYDOT.

U.S. 30/287 was also closed between I-80 and WY 34 due to the local authority request, with an estimated opening time of four to six hours as of 7:20 a.m.
