Many of you will be receiving some sort of refund from the I.R.S. this year as you submit your taxes. But what exactly are people across Wyoming doing with the extra cash?

Recently, the National Retail Federation posted that they had conducted a survey on what people were doing with their tax returns. The findings were pretty interesting and maybe not what you would think.

Here is what they found.

  1. Money Savers - The survey found that about 49% of those surveyed had planned to simply save their extra cash.
  2. Debt Payers - About 35% of surveyors said that they would get rid of debt that had been looming over them.
  3. Daily Living Expenses - About 22% said they would spend their cash on every day living expenses. Things like food, gas and possibly a boost in their mortgage payment.
  4. Vacation Goers - For those who had some of their debt and savings under control, about 9% chose to splurge on a long needed vacation.
  5. Luxury Buyers - Coming in at the bottom of the survey, right around 8.5 % said they would buy either a television, car, home spa or a night out on the town.

The survey was made up of just over 7,000 participants with a plus or minus 1.2% error ratio.

What are you going to do with your tax return. If it's anything really unique or cool, we'd like to know about it.
