What's your all-time favorite Cheyenne Frontier Days Night Show?

There have been a lot of legendary artists performing at Frontier Park over the years for 'The Daddy of 'em All,' which act would you pick as your favorite?

Earlier this week, acts were announced for the 2015 Cheyenne Frontier Days. The rock band announced was Aerosmith, playing on Cheyenne Day, Wednesday, July 22. Get your entry in to win one of the 5 pair of tickets we're giving away at www.kingfm.com.

It's a tough choice with all of the great entertainers who have taken to the Cheyenne Frontier Days mobile stage. I've seen some country legends; Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Roger Miller (my first CFD Night Show). There have also been some very memorable rock shows; ZZ Top, 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock and KISS.

If I had to narrow it down to my all-time favorites, I'd have to pick the Ronnie Milsap show with Los Lonely Boys during a rainy July night and the Steve Miller Band concert in 2006.

Ronnie Milsap at the piano singing 'Smokey Mountain Rain' as the rain poured down through the lights was magical. Then the three Garza brothers from San Angelo, Texas rocked the stands, occasionally having to use a towel to dry off leaks on the stage.

The Night Show I'd pick as my all-time favorite would have to be the Steve Miller Band on July 21, 2006. His band rocked Frontier Park, and toward the end of the show he was asking the crowd what they wanted to hear and played almost every one of his songs, it seemed.

Here's a partial set list from that night:

  • Swingtown
  • Livin' in the USA
  • Abracadabra
  • The Stake
  • Dance Dance Dance
  • Wild Mountain Honey
  • Fly Like An Eagle (including a rap solo over the bridge)
  • Take The Money and Run
  • Rock 'N Me
  • Jungle Love
  • Jet Airliner
  • The Joker
  • In The Wintertime (Encore)
  • Space Cowboy (Encore)
  • Just Got Back From Texas (Encore)
  • Serenade (Encore)

I remember our seats were in the old wooden stands on the lower south side and we were sitting next to Remax realtor Steve Prescott. It was a great time in ol' Cheyenne.

What Night Show at Cheyenne Frontier Days do you remember most?
