Do you still own any old TV's?

We didn't realize how old our TV's were until we recently upgraded to flat screens and tried to dispose of our old sets, still complete with VHS tape players.

Do you still have several of these TV sets stored around your place? Or perhaps some non-operational VHS players?

I tried taking these to several organizations around Cheyenne, including the Goodwill Store and the Meals On Wheels Merchandise Mart. Neither place accepted TV's that old because there is not a demand for them anymore.

At the Cheyenne Transfer Station on College Drive, they now have a full-time hazardous waste unit around the back where you can take your old electronic items. I pulled into the Transfer Station and told the attendant I had some old TV's and VCR's and he directed me around the back to a caged area where the electronics are recycled, keeping any of the hazardous materials in them out of the local landfill.

E-waste disposal is only offered Monday through Friday at the Cheyenne Transfer Station from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Other items accepted at the Cheyenne Hazardous Waste Disposal Unit include:

  • Used motor oil or anti-freeze
  • Auto and household batteries
  • Pesticides and poisons
  • Fuel, solvents and other flammables
  • Oil based paints
  • Cleaners and corrosive materials
