Who’s Your Favorite Singing Drummer?

How many singing drummers can you name?

Today is Levon Helm's 71st birthday, he's the drummer and singer from The Band, and it got me

wondering what other group's have a drummer who sings.

I can't imagine trying to beat on the drums and sing at the same time, and have it all sound good. Think about some of your favorite band's, does their drummer ever get to sing a song?

Once I started thinking about it, I came up with a short list of some of Rock and Roll's best singing drummers:

• Don Henley of the Eagles, he even has solo hits
• Phil Collins from Genesis also had a big solo career
• Ringo Starr with the Beatles sang "Yellow Submarine"
• Peter Criss, drummer for KISS, wrote and sang "Beth"
• Dave Grohl was Nirvana's stick man and now sings lead
• Micky Dolenz, The Monkee's drummer, sang lead on "I'm a Believer" and "Last Train to Clarksville." (But was he really a "drummer"?)
