Gerald Claycomb of the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued the following weather statement:
Winter Storm Watches have been issued for all southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle counties for a long duration snow event that has the possibility of bringing heavy snow, strong winds and very cold temperatures to most areas through Wednesday morning.

Highlights:

TimingSnow looks to begin across Carbon and Converse Counties as early as Monday late afternoon that will spread east into Albany County to the Laramie Range by Tuesday morning. Snow looks to begin east of the Laramie Range by sunrise Tuesday, then spread out into the Nebraska Panhandle around noon time Tuesday. The snow looks to end from west to east Wednesday.

Snow Accumulations: Confidence is increasing that snow accumulations will hinder travel along Interstate 80 from east of Rawlins, WY to Sidney, NE and Interstate 25 from Douglas WY to the Colorado border. Remember,these snow totals will be adjusted as the event draws closer.

Winds: North to northeast winds will gust up to 40 mph along and west of the Laramie Range beginning Monday night and continuing into Wednesday morning. These winds could pick up east of the Laramie Range by noon time Tuesday, continuing through Wednesday morning. Widespread Blowing snow is possible depending on snow amounts and wind speeds. Hazardous travel conditions are expected for Carbon and Albany Counties as early as Monday evening with areas east of the Laramie Range Tuesday. Significantly reduced visibilities with near blizzard conditions possible.
