The Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain ranges are under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Monday, according to the Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service.

The service issued this statement on its  website on Monday morning:

"Snow will continue today mainly over the mountains of the Sierra Madre and Snowy Ranges with the Sierra Madre Range remaining under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 PM MST today. Expecting additional snowfall accumulation of 2 to 4 inches with localized higher totals reaching close to 6 inches. Those traveling in the mountains should maintain a sense of awareness as blowing snow and reduced visibilities can quickly disorient someone’s perception and sense of direction. Take the time to plan and prepare accordingly with any needed essentials prior to your departure. "
