With Casper City Council planning to revisit its five-month-old public indoor smoking ban, Smokefree Natrona County says, in the coming weeks, it will watch the actions of council closely.

Smokefree Natrona County says it will do whatever it takes to keep the ban in place.

“We have worked far too hard to go down without a serious fight,” Smokefree Natrona County spokesperson Kenny Ainsworth said in a press release last week. “Everyone in Casper deserves the right to breathe clean air – we are prepared to make sure that we continue to be protected from secondhand smoke long into the future.”

Smokefree Natrona County representative Anna Edwards says her organization will do its best to keep council members informed about the consequences of repealing the ban.

“We are willing to do what it takes to educate the four new council members,” Edwards said. “We’re going to be there at the meetings to show support of this ordiance.”

Council will hold its regular work session Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
