The Wyoming Business Council has recommended approval of a $3 million grant to help pay for a new terminal at Cheyenne Regional Airport.

The council approved the grant request Thursday. Now the recommendation will head to the State Loan and Investment Board for a final decision. The board will meet October 1 in Cheyenne.

The airport terminal project is expected to cost $18 million. The Federal Aviation Administration will provide $5.9 million, the Wyoming Aeronautics Commission will pay $2.9 million and $6.3 million will come from a Cheyenne sixth-penny tax, which voters approved.

The project will include a new terminal building, an apron for aircraft parking and a new parking lot and road system.
