Federal judges in Wyoming recently sentenced three men for drug, firearm and counterfeiting crimes, according to a news release from the Wyoming U.S. Attorney's Office.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced Jesse Wade Penfield, 27, of Newcastle for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He received three years, five months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation. Freudenthal also ordered him to pay a $100 special assessment and a $250 fine. This case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

 

U.S. District Court Alan Johnson sentenced Charles Michael Carsten, 28, of Pittsburg, Calif., for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Carsten was arrested in Wellington, Colo. He received two years imprisonment, to be followed by two years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. This case was investigated by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

 

Johnson also sentenced Dakota Stanley, 24, of Casper for uttering counterfeit currency. He received 18 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of probation, and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. Restitution will be determined at a later date. This case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.
