Wyoming has one of the lowest cancer rates in America. A recent study claims the percentage of cancer patients in the Cowboy State is 10.5 percent below the national average, the sixth-lowest rate in the country.

An estimated 391.9 new cases of cancer per 100,000 people are diagnosed in Wyoming. The Cowboy State also has the fourth-lowest rate of cancer-related fatalities, 12.1 percent below the national average, according to the study. The rate of lung cancer in the state is the seventh-lowest, 26.6 percent below the national average. Wyoming has the lowest rate of breast cancer nationwide, 16.8 percent below average. Prostate cancer cases in the state are 2.3 percent below the national average.

Only Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, the District of Columbia, and Colorado, have a lower overall rate of cancer than Wyoming.

Kentucky has the highest cancer rate in the country, 16.9 percent above the national average, with 512 new cases for every 100,000 people. Kentucky also has the highest percentage lung cancer and cancer-related deaths. Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey also ranked among the worst states for cancer.
