The Wyoming House of Representatives on Thursday rejected changes made in the Wyoming Senate to a bill targeting edible pot products.

The issue is one that state lawmakers have wrestled with for years. The on-going argument has been whether to define felony and misdemeanor categories of the edibles by overall total weight of the product or by the THC content of the product.

The issue of regulating pot edibles in Wyoming has come to the forefront in recent years, with the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, including pot edibles.

In the House debate on concurrence with the Senate version of House Bill 197 on Thursday, the issue of weight vs. THC content again was raised.

Several opponents of the Senate changes in the bill argued the legislation was too vague and would cause problems in court. The vote against concurrence Thursday afternoon was 30-28.

The bill now goes to a conference committee which will try to hammer out an agreement acceptable to both houses of the legislature. But with the 2017 session expected to wrap up on Friday, March 3, it could be difficult to get a bill agreed upon and approved in time to meet the deadline.
