Wyoming Native Holds Four Major League Baseball Records

When you think of the greatest hitters in baseball history, several names come to mind. Cobb, Hornsby, Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Rose, Bonds...and Jeremy Horst?

Horst, who was born in Cheyenne, is one of only 85 players in Major League Baseball history with a 1.000% career batting average. 

The 6'3" left handed pitcher was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 21st round of the 2007 draft. From 2011 through 2013, he appeared in 72 games for the Reds and Philadelphia Phillies.

As a relief pitcher, Horst didn't see many at-bats. In fact, he only stepped up to the plate once in his big league career. But he made it count, hitting an RBI double.

Overall, the Wyoming native holds a share of four Major League records.

His career batting statistics feature one hit in one at-bat, with one RBI, a 1.000% batting average (tied for MLB record), a 1.000% on base average (tied for MLB record), a 1.000% career slugging percentage (tied for MLB record), and a 2.000% OPS (On base plus Slugging percentage; tied for MLB record).
