It’s that difference between recreational and medical use that is the dividing line between Wyoming approval

Will Wyoming legalize marijuana? It depends on which kind of use. Colorado legalized Marijuana in 2012 and is making millions in tax revenues, but there are other issues that come with legalized pot. Washington State, Washington DC, Oregon and Alaska and have also voted to legalize recreational use of marijuana. Twenty three other states are dealing with medical marijuana legalization.

It’s that difference between recreational and medical use that is the dividing line between Wyoming approval, according to a recent statewide poll commissioned by The University Of Wyoming. 72% Wyoming residents say they’re in favor of legalizing doctor prescribed marijuana, but not recreational use. Only 35% would vote for legalizing recreational use, which is up from the 23% in favor of recreational use in a 2000 poll.

One other notable point from the poll shows 62% were in favor of reducing penalties for marijuana possession and not imposing jail time, while 32% support time behind bars.

Legal pot doesn't stop at the state borders however. Small towns near the state borders are dealing with the incursion of pot. Hastings and Sidney Nebraska have been straining their budgets with half of all traffic stops ending up arrests for possession.
