Last week we told you about Richard Dixon, the Cheyenne resident who won a $10,000 seat at the World Series of Poker Main Event in a contest held legendary six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu.

Dixon is well on his way to making Negreanu's investment pay off. On day one, Dixon doubled his stack, finishing with $108,000 in chips and ranking 93rd after the opening round.

Dixon's count would have been even higher had he not suffered a "bad beat" on the final hand of the first round, when his Ace-King lost to 4-5 that drew a straight on the river.

Unfortunately, Negreanu didn't fare nearly as well on day one. After starting with $50,000 in chips, the "Poker Kid" will have to grind it out short-stacked; surviving day one with $37k.
