Tuesday's primary election drew about 26 percent of Wyoming's voters to the polls, the highest primary turnout the Cowboy State has seen in over a decade.

"Unofficial results indicate that 116,253 ballots were cast in the primary statewide," said Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray.

"Although this is the best primary election turnout Wyoming has seen in a presidential election since 2004, I think we still have a lot of work to do as a state to continue to educate our families, our friends, our neighbors and especially our youth about the importance of voting," Murray added.

The state canvassing board, which consists of Wyoming's top four elected officials, will meet on Wednesday to certify the election results.
