In my humble opinion, the Wyoming State Museum is one of the best, FREE, attractions in the entire state.

The museum features many well-preserved artifacts that shaped Wyoming history. From dinosaurs to coal, Native Americans, to wild west outlaws, it's all on display here.

Most of the artifacts will stay in the museum year-round, however there are a couple rotating exhibits on the building's second level.

As of September 2016, those rotating exhibits are a tribute to the Wyoming State Fair, Wyoming Native Americans, and William Shakespeare.

The museum is open Monday - Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. While touring is absolutely free, there is an optional donation box at the entrance and exit of the museum.

A couple of tips if you plan to visit the Wyoming State Museum...

  • Despite the front of the building facing Central Ave, parking is easier to access by taking Warren Avenue between 22nd and 24th
  • Bring a jacket, it's pretty cool inside, intentionally
  • Bring a couple bucks to drop into the donation jar
  • Prepare to spend an hour or two
