Wyoming Weather – Start Big Game Hunting

I loved the movie Twister with Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt portraying storm chasers researching tornadoes. It was a great story well told with excellent acting and production.

In real life, there are people who are impressed with the power of Mother Nature and the fury and wrath she can bring down on us. Some of these people, hunt storms and share their video and findings and can end up saving lives in the process.

If you’d like to be a severe weather spotter, Cheyenne’s National Weather Service has some classes coming up this Spring. You can learn thunderstorm development and the basics of thunderstorm structure and how they come together. Safety is also covered  with classes that usually last about two hours.

I have found that you meet great people in activities like these and you can provide a great service all the while seeing nature at it’s most awesome. Awesome is a word thrown around too easily but if you’ve ever been close to a powerful storm, that memory will stay with you forever.
