For a second consecutive season Wyoming running back Brian Hill has been selected as a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award.

Hill is presently third in the nation in both total rushing yards, 1,417, and average rushing yards per game, at 141.7. The junior is fifth in rushing touchdowns with 16, No. 13 in scoring at 9.6 points per game and rated 15th in all-purpose yards per game with 144. 5.

Hill is only 214 yards away from his own single-season rushing record of 1,631 he set last year. With 3,844 yards in his career, he ranks first in school history and third all-time in the Mountain West.

Two other running backs from the Mountain West are among the other semifinalists. San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey and Boise State’s Jeremy McNichols also represent the MW on this distinguished list.

Wyoming will face the No. 24 Aztecs Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. Fans will have a chance to watch two of the semifinalists square off.

The PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced the ten semifinalists Wednesday.

The three Doak Walker Award finalists will be announced Nov. 22. This year’s recipient will be named on Dec. 8 as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN.
