Wyoming junior running back Brian Hill has been selected as the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week.

The junior ran for a career-best 289 yards on 29 carries and also had a career-high three touchdowns in Wyoming’s 42-34 victory at Nevada. Hill scored on runs of 56, two and 20 yards. He also caught one pass for 13 yards and finished with 302 all-purpose yards in the game.

Hill’s 289 rushing yards are the second-most in a single game across the nation this season. His 302 all-purpose yards rank as the eighth best single-game performance in the country.

On nine of his carries, Hill gained 10 or more yards, which included a long of 56 on the TD run. His 39-yard burst late in the fourth quarter set-up the Cowboys eventual game-winning score.

Hill has surpassed 1,000 yards for a second-consecutive season with 1,010 thus far. He’s second in the nation in both total rushing yards and average yards per game, at 144.3 Hill trails only Donnel Pumphrey of San Diego State in both statistical categories.

It marks the third time Hill has received the accolade. He earned it his freshman season for his effort at Fresno State in 2014 and last year, as a sophomore, against UNLV.

This is also the third MW Player of the Week honor won by a Cowboy this season. Hill joins red-shirt sophomore quarterback Josh Allen, who received it after the triple overtime victory against Northern Illinois, and sophomore safety Andrew Wingard, who earned Defensive Player of the Week after the Pokes’ win at Colorado State.
