The most popular Valentine's Day treat in Wyoming isn't candy hearts or Hershey kisses. According to a new study, lovebirds in the Cowboy State consume over 10,000 chocolate roses every year.

Based on estimates from the National Retail Federation, more chocolate roses are sold in Wyoming each year from January 1st to February 14th than any other candy.

Conversation hearts are the most popular Valentine's Day candy nationwide, accounting for 10.2 percent of sales. Heart-shaped boxes of chocolate are another popular item, with 9.6 percent of domestic candy sales during the last decade.

In Wyoming, heart-shaped boxes ranked second in sales, behind chocolate roses, with candy hearts in third place. Wyoming was one of five states where chocolate roses are the most popular sweet treat for Valentine's Day.
