The Laramie County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding whoever stole $10,000 worth of cattle from a pasture southwest of Cheyenne.

Lt. Don Hollingshead says nine head were taken from the Duck Creek Grazing Association between Aug. 1 and Oct. 20.

"It's a high-dollar business," said Hollingshead. "They can drive into an area that the cattle are grazing in with a cattle truck, load them up -- usually with dogs or what have you -- and cart them off. It's a pretty quick in-and-out type of crime."

Hollingshead says the rustling incident at Duck Creek isn't isolated either. In the past three months, approximately 30 cattle have been stolen from the area.

"We don't know whether or not the total theft of the 30 cattle in this area are connected by the same group, but that is certainly one of the things we're looking at," said Hollingshead.

"With the amount of cattle that we have in Wyoming and Laramie County we really want to get ahead of this before it gets too far along," he added.

Anyone with information about the cattle thefts is asked to call Crime Stoppers Silent Witness at (307) 638-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
