The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Madre and Snowy Range Mountains of southeast Wyoming starting this evening.

The agency posted this statement on its website:

''Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Snowy and Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges beginning Wednesday evening. Heavy snowfall with accumulations of 10 to 15 inches possible along with strong winds creating reductions in visibility due to blowing snow through Friday morning. Heaviest snow accumulations are expected Thursday afternoon and evening. Travel conditions could become hazardous and those out for recreation purposes may become disoriented due to the harsh conditions. For the latest forecast, be sure to check weather.gov/cys."
