Helene Neville is heading to Alaska to complete her mission of running across every state in the country, according to KGWN.

On Saturday, April 6th, Helene Neville sets out to make history to not only be the first woman to run across every state in the country but the first person to do it self-supported.  It will also make her the second person in history to run across every state in the country.  So far she has run 12,285 miles across 49 states over the past nine years.

Her journey through Alaska will take 869 miles to complete.  It will start at Earthquake Park, and end in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.  The run will be broken up into two parts, Anchorage to Livewood which is 442 miles, then Livengood to Prudhoe Bay which is 427 miles.  The last stretch will be the hardest because Helene has to run The Dalton Highway, one of the trickiest highways in the country.  She plans to complete her run by her birthday month, August.

Wyoming was the 39th state Helene ran across, she loved it so much that she moved to Laramie to work as a nurse, write her book and train.  She started this mission of running across every state in the country in 2010 after she survived three brain abscesses, three brain surgeries, and reoccurring lymphoma.  Her whole mission is to "Rethink Impossible," meaning nothing is ever impossible, don't give up.

Other accomplishments Helene has achieved is being the first person to run the Las Vegas Strip for 35 hours (125 miles).  She also was the first person to run up and down the Philadelphia Art Museum Steps (the steps Sylvester Stallone ran up in 'Rocky') for 16 miles.
